External Relations Committee Charter

Purpose

Goals

1. Influence the positive perception and awareness of CDM as a profession.
2. Maximize influence in areas of interest to members of the Society.
3. Ensure consistent communications on key issues of interest to the CDM profession.

Committee Membership

• Members of the committee will be current members of SCDM in good standing.
• Members will have a strong knowledge of the organization(s) with which they are liaising.
• Individuals with established relationships with the targeted organization are preferred.
• Appointments to this committee require the endorsement of the BOT.
• The Vice Chair of the BOT will serve as the BOT Liaison & chair of this committee.

Committee Member Responsibilities

Strategizing: The committee will develop a plan outlining strategic focal areas for external collaborations on an annual basis. This plan will be presented to the BOT for review and approval.

Liaising: Each committee member will establish and maintain interaction with the targeted external group on an ongoing basis as needed to achieve the goals of the committee.

Meetings: The committee will meet via teleconference at least quarterly. Additional meetings may be called as needed. (Monthly call schedule has been developed)

Reports: Each committee member will submit a written report of activities quarterly. The committee will review these reports and compile a summary, including recommendations when appropriate, for presentation to the BOT.
