2006 Fall Tutorials:
Case Report Form (CRF) Tracking and Inventory and CRF Design

CRF Design
Sunday, October 8th, 2006
8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m
Presenters:    Reza Restami, MBA, CQM, Manager Clinical Data Operations
Teri Pennell, MBA, CQA, Manager CRF Development

The Case Report Form (CRF) design course will engage attendees in discussions and exercises focused on proven design concepts and effective practices developing clinical data forms for a clinical study protocol. The instructor will discuss ways to ensure critical data elements used in analyses and reporting are captured, the pros and cons of different kinds of formats and collection methods; and design principles and considerations for creating efficient CRF questions and forms.

A training study protocol will be used to give attendees a chance to practice their CRF development skills and generate scenarios that individuals leading the CRF design effort will likely encounter. Upon completion of this course attendees should be able to:

Learning Objectives

  • Identify required data elements from a study protocol supporting data analyses and reporting requirements
  • Understand and apply widely accepted best practices for CRF design
  • Offer suggestions that yield effective and efficient forms designs
  • Develop data collection forms for different data types
  • Explain pros and cons of specific data collection methods
