Happy New Year 2017!
This start of the year is a good time to reflect on 2016 and how much the Society has achieved, as well as look ahead to some big milestones in 2017 and opportunities to join in and make a difference in your data management society. SCDM has achieved so much over the past year and there is lots to update you on.
As a reminder, perhaps the most exciting news of 2016 is that GCDMP© is now available for free. There has been huge support from our industry and the regulators in making this available to everyone. We are looking for folks to be involved in its ongoing maintenance and updates, so please let us know if you are interested in sharing your knowledge and insights at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Innovations Committee has been tasked over the years with researching new initiatives and creating white papers and other content to help influence and educate the industry. The most recent output is white paper on data management and its role in mobile health and provides a framework to evaluate and implement mobile health technologies using eSource principles. It was published in October on the SCDM website. Please download a copy today and share it amongst colleagues – let us know what you think. The innovation team is now working on a metrics and analytics initiative. If you would like to be part of this vibrant team, please do get in touch. New people and new approaches are key to the Innovations Committee’s success.
On the 9th and 10th December, we hosted our third conference in India, this time in Hyderabad. The conference theme was “CDM in Digital Health: DM 2.0”. The presentations and panel discussions provided a great forum for learning and debating the future of CDM. More exciting opportunities are being looked at by the India Steering Committee.
The SCDM 2017 Annual Conference dates and sponsorship brochure are now confirmed and available. Mark your calendar for Orlando – registration will open soon. Please also consider presenting and sharing your experiences and ideas with your colleagues.
Keep an eye on the website for our online courses and webinars. There are lots of great learning opportunities available.
The SCDM membership year ends on the 31st December. If you haven’t already, please renew as soon as you can for 2017.
Welcome to our new BoT members: Jennifer Price, Michael Goedde, Arshad Mohammed and Reza Rostami, and congratulations to Shannon Labout and Linda King as our newly elected Vice Chair and Secretary.
I wish you all a successful year ahead and hope you’ll consider volunteering for some fun and rewarding initiatives and committees this year – many thanks in advance.
